CMCC Mechanochemistry Discussions

Online Seminar Series "Navigating through the jungle of ball milling parameters"

available on YouTube

(June, 2026)

Recent advancements in mechanochemistry are revolutionizing synthesis as a greener and more efficient alternative to solution-based methods, and in addition, enabling reaction pathways that are otherwise inaccessible through classical methods. As a result, its potential has captured the attention of both academia and industry.

However, for researchers coming from a classical solution-based chemistry background, adopting mechanochemistry remains challenging: the kinetics of solution-based chemistry do not fully translate, and the role of its many parameters—especially those tied to milling equipment—remains only partially understood.

This talk serves as a beginner’s guide to the wide variety of parameters that require attention and introduces tools, such as kinematic models, to improve the reproducibility and predictability of mechanochemistry.
